The short version: Baseball 162 is a free game for fun. It’s provided as-is, the “eWAR” numbers are estimates (not official stats), don’t cheat the leaderboard, and the baseball data belongs to its original source under an open license.

By using baseball162.app (“the game”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the game.

The game

Baseball 162 is a free, independently operated browser game. We may change, pause, or discontinue it, or any feature (including leaderboards), at any time.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the game.

Acceptable use

Please play fairly. You agree not to:

submit falsified, automated, or manipulated leaderboard results, or otherwise game the scoring or submission system;
attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer for abuse, or gain unauthorized access to the game or its services;
scrape or bulk-extract the site beyond normal play; or
use the game for any unlawful purpose.

Leaderboard display names are randomly generated, so there’s no name to abuse. We may remove entries, or reset boards, to keep them fair.

“eWAR” and accuracy

The game’s “eWAR” figures are a simplified estimate of Wins Above Replacement computed from raw historical stat lines. They approximate but do not equal official Baseball-Reference or FanGraphs WAR, and they run a little hot for the greatest seasons. Records and projections are for entertainment only.

Data, attribution & trademarks

Player and team statistics come from the Sean Lahman Baseball Database (1901–2024), via the SABR / Chadwick Bureau release, distributed under CC BY-SA. That data remains under its original license; any data shared onward from this project must carry the same attribution and share-alike terms. The game’s own code, design, and artwork are the property of its operator.

Team names and related marks belong to their respective owners. Baseball 162 is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Major League Baseball, any team, Baseball-Reference, FanGraphs, or SABR.

No warranty

The game is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of any data or projection.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of Baseball 162 will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the game. The game is free; it is offered for entertainment with no guarantees.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
